Tax Tools Has Definitely Evolved Over Time …
When pencils with erasers were first invented, they were probably hailed as the number one best tax tool in existence. For a great many years, the only tax "tools" were pencils (with erasers) and those who knew how to use them to figure tax obligations. Adding machines proved to be a handy alternative, and so were those first calculators. When someone foolishly used pen and ink rather than a pencil, White-Out was an indispensable tax tool.
Today, we have tax preparation companies that do nothing but prepare tax returns for businesses, organizations, and individuals. There are attorneys who specialize in tax laws. Accountants and CPAs keep tax-related records as a regular part of their duties. With a tax code that consists of at least 4,000 pages (that's a conservative estimate) and is at least seven times longer than the Bible, we need all the help we can get.
Today we are really blessed with tax preparation software that we can install on our personal computers. This software can take information that we supply and figure our tax obligation for us. It takes you by the hand and leads you through the tax return preparation nightmare. It tells you what documents you need and what information is required.
Some of this magical tax preparation software will even guarantee that if you are audited, you will be given whatever support that you need. Did I mention that this software will double check your return and ensure that the blanks are filled in correctly? It will file your taxes for you electronically, too. This software is, of course, not free, but it costs considerably less than having a human do the same calculations and perform the same services.
Additionally, there are all kinds of tax tools that you can find online, and some of them are free. You'll find tools like tax calculators and tax estimators.
